We are pleased to share this exciting opportunity to take on a clinical nurse specialist role within the Childrens Haematology and Oncology Service, based at Leeds General Infirmary. The successful applicant will join the well-established and dynamic team and can develop their clinical expertise & knowledge.

You will manage and support delivery of the bolus chemotherapy at home service and take the lead in its service development. We are looking for a candidate that is seeking a new challenge or to enhance their career. Clinical experience within paediatric haematology or oncology, including competency of bolus chemotherapy administration and experience of service improvement is preferable. The successful applicant will work alongside the key workers and multi-disciplinary team to provide coordinated, high quality, individualised family centred care to children and teenagers with cancer.

Main duties of the job

As the CNS you will play a pivotal role in the management and care co-ordination of those children and teenagers eligible to receive bolus chemotherapy closer to home, in conjunction with their key worker, wider multi-disciplinary team and colleagues across other statutory and voluntary organisations. In partnership with the Lead Children & Teenage Cancer Nurse and Shared Care Partners, identify any opportunities that enables bolus chemotherapy to be delivered closer to home for any child/teenager who meets the criteria.

You will travel across the region to support children/teenagers and their families at home and facilitate their access to local services. You will help the provision of education for children/Teenagers and their families and professionals who are supporting them.

We care for children and young people with a range of non-malignant haematological disorders; Leeds is a Comprehensive Care Centre for Haemophilia and a Specialist Centre for Haemoglobinopathy.
