Job summary

To provide a professional Nutrition and Dietetic care service within the Paediatric Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis (CF) services. This includes advice to in-patients, out-patients, their parents and carers, all healthcare staff and participation in the training of student dietitians.

The post holder will be expected to deliver a service to the respiratory service for both in and out patients. As well as Leeds respiratory patients, the service will also require input to respiratory patients who attend the service from across Yorkshire. This will require liaison with local paediatric dietitians across the network.

The post holder will be expected to assist the lead dietitian in the delivery of the CF service.

There is also the expectation that the post holder will gain experience in Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD), working alongside another B6, to provide cover for the service as well as general medicine.

You will also be expected to demonstrate initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the clinical dietetic manager in the day-to-day management of the department.

The role is Monday -Friday.

Main duties of the job

Respiratory service

The post holder will be expected to deliver a service to the respiratory service for both in and out patients.

CF service

Assist the lead dietitian in the delivery of the CF Paediatric service in Leeds.

Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) and general medicine

There is also the expectation that the post holder will gain experience in respiratory medicine, working alongside another B6, to provide cover for this service.

You will also be expected to provide a cover service to general medicine.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the clinical dietetic manager in the day-to-day management of the department.

The post holder will also be expected to participate in the training of student dietitians.

About us

Leeds Childrens hospital is one of the largest childrens hospitals in the UK. Over 80% of the services it delivers are specialist including cancer treatment, transplantation and congenital heart surgery. Other specialities also include childrens medicine and surgery, gastroenterology, cystic fibrosis, respiratory medicine, hepatobiliary services, renal medicine, neurosciences, paediatric critical care, neonatal services, oncology and haematology, endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiac services, allergy, immunology and infectious diseases and diabetes. We also provide services for the children of Leeds and across the Yorkshire and Humber Region and in some cases further afield.

You will be working as part of specialist respiratory and CF teams, where support and training will be provided.

You will also be part of the larger paediatric dietetic team consisting of 32 dietitians.
