Job summary
We
are looking for a team player who can work to a high professional standard to
join the Congenital Cardiac Department. The post holder will be responsible
in supporting the Database Manager for the inputting, validating and
submitting data to NICOR, NCARDS and NHS England. The post holder will also
be required to produce monthly reports to senior management and clinicians.
The successful candidate will be joining a large and dynamic team within the
Leeds Childrens Hospital and will have lots of exposure to varied roles and
projects.
The
successful applicant should possess good organisational skills, communication
skills and be computer literate. They must have good attention to detail and
be able to work to tight deadlines. Your ability to communicate will be
assessed throughout your online application and interview. Applicants should
have previous administration and clerical experience which includes typing
skills. NHS experience is desirable but not essential and be educated to GCSE
standard (or equivalent). Basic excel knowledge is essential.
The
successful candidate would ideally have an understanding or knowledge of the
Congenital Cardiac services, terminology and cardiac anatomy. This post is
based at Jubilee Wing within a busy and growing service. You will be
expected to prioritise your own workload and
undertake multiple tasks.
This
is a full-time post at 37.5 hours a week Mon-Fri. Flexible and condensed working may be considered
Main duties of the job
Specifically
focusing on the extraction, inputting, and validation of clinical cardiac
data for both adults and children in line with national submissions for
surgical and interventional procedures. Also overseeing data submission to
NCARDS for all congenital cardiac antenatal and post-natal data.
Producing
multiple reports for the management team and various clinicians on a monthly
basis for presentations at meetings as well as producing ad-hoc reports for
research purposes.
Typing
operation notes for both adults and children.
Communicating
with consultants via telephone, email and face to face, whilst also liaising
with internal and external stakeholders.
Routine
maintenance and development of the departments bespoke database.
Using
Patient Centre, PPM+, Oscar 4D and Epro on a daily basis.

Hospitals Trust and supporting with the submission of the National Congenital
Heart Disease Audit, (NCHDA), to the National Institute for Cardiovascular

is an information systems technical role, which requires some level of
knowledge of the clinical and business processes carried out within
Congenital Cardiac Services, working to defined objectives which will be
reviewed at least twice yearly.
There
are no budgetary or team management responsibilities.
Working
alongside clinical staff to obtain accurate data is a key requirement of the
role.
Working
alongside the Congenital Cardiac Services Database Manager to ensure data
audits and update audit and training programs and associated documentation is
a requirement of the role.
There
will be a requirement to assist the Congenital Cardiac Services Database
Manager to generate and present clinical and management reports to clinical
and management staff within the Congenital Cardiac Services area.
The
National Data Audits contribute to patient care and research. Audit targets
are therefore high: 100% for completeness and >90% for accuracy. They are
also used in the measurement of Trust Performance, contributing to the star
rating as the Trust endeavours to achieve Foundation Status. Attention to
detail is therefore of paramount importance.
