This includes the line management responsibilities for Matrons within the CSU and the management of specific clinical services/areas.

They are the named and identified lead for all issues relating to nursing and midwifery practice within the CSU and will be identified as the senior nurse/midwife within the CSU triumvirate.

They are responsible for decision making where practice or service delivery issues cross matron speciality or when cross speciality leadership is required. Complexities of the service may come from the national profile that the speciality attracts or the consistent need to engage and work with stakeholders/agencies outside of the organisation.
