Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse to join our team of Childrens Urology Nurse Specialists.

This dynamic surgical service covers both urology inpatients and outpatients.

Patient conditions include urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, bladder pain, spina bifada, neurogenic bladder and various complex urology conditions.

The role involves managing patient cohorts, providing advice and support to parents and their families, implementing care plans and working within the wider MDT. There is scope within this role to extend practical skills and undertake professional training in specific procedures and investigations such as invasive and none-invasive urodynamics, biofeedback, bladder installations. intermittent catheterisation, post operative management of urological conditions and providing support to the wider team working closely with the consultant team to provide patient care which aligns with the Leeds way.

Main duties of the job

The jobholder will work within a team of Nurse Specialists responsible to the CNS Team Leader.

Responsibilities will include the management of a defined caseload aged 0 19 years (both inpatients and outpatients), the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will work in partnership with children and young people and families to share expert knowledge, care and support.

The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with the team leader, specialist and senior nurses to implement evidence-based, patient focused practice. Working in the clinical area the post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. A driving licence is essential to full fill this role.
