About us

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) is one of the largest and busiest NHS acute health providers in Europe and is a regional and national centre for specialist treatment.

LTHT is one of five national competence test centres. All nurses recruited from overseas, or nurses that have taken significant time away from their nursing career, must complete an Observed Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as part of their Test of Competence before they can be registered to practice in the UK.

The Test of Competence is a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirement and enables professionals to demonstrate to assessors that they have the skills and knowledge to care for people safely and effectively.

We will be working with the NMC to support the NHS, private and third sector organisations in expanding the nursing workforce in the UK.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals is committed to our process of redeploying 'at risk' members of our existing workforce to new roles.
