2. JOB PURPOSE
The
post supports the operational delivery of adult safeguarding services, including the general raising of awareness
of adult safeguarding practice throughout childrens and adult services.
The
post holder will provide the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) workforce
with the safeguarding skills and knowledge necessary to promote safe and
effective practice, to offer preventative support and advice to mitigate for
safeguarding incidents, and to respond when harm or abuse is thought to have
occurred.
They
will work with the Lead Professional Safeguarding Adults within a team of
Specialist Practitioner (Adult) advisors to lead the development of adult
safeguarding practice, reflecting the Clinical Service Unit (CSU), Corporate
Nursing and Safeguarding business plans.
The
post holder will provide a crucial link between staff at ward level and the
Safeguarding team, providing safeguarding clinical leadership and role model
behaviours to staff in the delivery of high quality safe care. Where
identified, leading on the sharing of lessons learned post safeguarding incident.
The
post holder will work within the guidance of the Leeds Safeguarding Adult
Board and promote city wide policy and guidance within the Trust.
The
post holder will provide links with outside agencies and work alongside
safeguarding colleagues across the NHS health economy, local and regional,
and the Local Authority.
The
post holder will be available on a daily (Monday to Friday) basis, for advice
and support across the Trust for those staff contacting the service.
3. JOB DIMENSIONS
The post holder will work with the
safeguarding team to raise awareness within LTHT workforce of essential adult
safeguarding practice.
Enable the development of an
environment which encourages and empowers LTHT staff members to be effective
and proactive in the field of adult safeguarding.
Act as key supporting investigators
following Section 42 requests for safeguarding cases; to liaise with
CSU/wards to support the investigation and review process.
Contribute to interagency working
to promote learning and develop city wide safeguarding initiatives.
The post holder will be required to
facilitate and deliver training as part of their role, providing mandatory
training and specialist training alongside safeguarding colleagues.

Qualifications
Registered Professional
Qualification, Nurse (Part 1 of the NMC register), Allied Health Professional
(AHP), Equivalent registered professional qualification
Teaching and Assessing qualification
or experience

8. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF
RESPONSIBILITY
Assess, plan, implement and
evaluate care and interventions using evidence based and current adult
safeguarding knowledge
Support CSU leads to investigate
safeguarding concerns
