An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic, highly motivated
and flexible nurse with a passion to develop a career within dermatology. The
post is to work in the Dermatology Outpatient Department at Chapel Allerton
Hospital.
The
post is fixed term of 12 months and is 25.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
We
are seeking an Nurse Practitioner to work within a defined job plan to
undertake a range of dermatology nurse led clinics (psoriasis triage, leg
ulcer / wound management and home phototherapy). Clinics are currently
established in most of these areas but we are seeking someone with a desire
and vision to lead, develop and enhance the services.
The
successful candidate will show evidence of supporting change management as
well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A willingness to
undertake the non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable.
Candidates
should have knowledge and insight into the aspects of care required when
caring for and managing Dermatology patients.
A
relevant teaching and assessing qualification is essential, together with
excellent communication, leadership and managerial skills. Experience of dermatology, in the areas the
post focusses on, together with working within an outpatient environment is
desirable but not essential.
About us
The
dermatology outpatient service is based at Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds.
The dermatology outpatient service includes general and specialist medical
and nurse led dermatology clinics, phototherapy/ home phototherapy,
photodynamic therapy and day treatment, allergy services, wound management,
skin cancer and emergency clinics for adults and children. The job holder
will work within the dermatology outpatient nursing team.

The
jobholder will demonstrate evidence based care in the independent assessment,
clinical examination, diagnosis, planning of care, clinical treatment,
evaluation and health promotion of dermatological problems within agreed
protocols The post holder will work in conjunction with the relevant
dermatology consultants in order to provide a range of nurse led clinic
services in the dermatology department.
The
job holder will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of staff and implement
nurse led care. They will participate in mentorship and teaching programmes
for multi-disciplinary groups within the department. The jobholder will
provide senior nursing support, advice and professional leadership to a group
of clinical areas within dermatology.
The

Developing
knowledge and skills in key areas of general dermatology, the post holder
will work undertaking a range of nurse led clinical activity within a defined
job plan covering the following areas:
Work with the psoriasis team to
deliver nurse led Psoriasis Triage clinics under the supervision of a
dermatology consultant
Work within the leg ulcer team
undertaking new patient and follow up nurse led clinics
Work within the home phototherapy
service to deliver safe and effective remote treatment to a case load of
patients
Contribute to training for nursing
staff to ensure safe and effective delivery of hospital based treatments
Act as a role model for the
development of clinical skills, knowledge and competence within the
