Job summary
The
jobholder will be actively involved in planning, organising and delivering
high quality meaningful recreational activities to individuals or to groups
of patients; that will assist in their rehabilitation from a stroke or other
neurological disorder. A person centred strength based approach will be
undertaken to ensure that activities are tailored to the person to meet their
individual needs and promote wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
The
jobholder will communicate easily and sensitively with older people and their
carer/families.
Professional
qualifications are not required, but the jobholder will ideally have
experience of working with patients with cognitive impairment, physical
disability, and clinically related behaviours that are challenging.
The
jobholder will contribute to the maintenance of a positive and creative
environment for undertaking activities.

Job responsibilities
The
jobholder will be expected to work in collaboration with the
multidisciplinary team and volunteers offering guidance and support.
The
jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies,
guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined
competency boundaries.
Communication
and Working Relationship

Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, families,
carers, relatives.

Develop and maintain good appropriate relationships, communication and
teamwork with members of the multi-disciplinary team within the
ward/department staff including volunteers, Patent Experience Team and Carers
Leeds Hospital carer support workers.

Assist in the welcome and reception of carers/relatives into the clinical
area explaining what happens on the ward and about activities taking place.

Carry out the duties of the role in a professional manner.
