Senior Occupational Therapist - Prosthetics

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a 18.75 hours band 7 Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Prosthetic Service.

The regional Prosthetic Service is one of the largest in the UK and has a complement of highly skilled consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, clinical psychologists, prosthetists, healthcare assistants and prosthetics technicians who specialise in the treatment of adults and children amputees.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge of core occupational therapy skills and have the knowledge and experience to lead the prosthetic occupational therapy service, whilst being able to work collaboratively and independently within the multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate leadership skills to assist in the development and growth of this established team, providing clinical knowledge of long term conditions, training and supervision to qualified and unqualified staff and also be able to influence service improvement at local and regional levels.

Main duties of the job

The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.

The jobholder will provide specialist occupational therapy, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the prosthetic service. The job holder will have knowledge of the Multi-grip prosthetic hand NHS England Clinical Commissioning policy and ideally have experience with the provision of these prosthetics.

The job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a Senior member of the team role they will promote the sharing of good practice and the delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.

Principal Duties and Areas of Responsibility

Clinical
