Job summary
An
opportunity has arisen within the ward clerk team on J82 to promote a
comprehensive service for the ward and patients. A friendly and enthusiastic
person is required to compliment the nursing team. The post holder will
undertake clerical and related duties enabling the nursing staff to
concentrate more freely on direct patient care. The post involves
considerable liaison with patients, relatives, hospital staff, wards and
departments within the Trust. Excellent communication and organisational
skills are paramount as well as a flexible attitude. Experience of office
processes is desirable but not essential, as a training period is included
within the induction programme.
This
will be for a 12month period to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

Record changes to the bed base and inform the relevant corporate
team

Handle telephone calls from relatives, hospital staff, public etc, under
guidance where necessary from the Sister/Charge Nurse, and making calls where
appropriate on behalf of ward staff.

Ensure that patients medical records (including x-rays) are available
on
the ward, obtaining these where necessary from other departments.
