Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and patient centred
individual to join Colorectal Surgery in the role of Admissions Officer. The
post holder will be required to work as part of a team providing a service
for elective and planned admissions and providing support to patients,
relatives, and clinical teams, ensuring that the pathway is as seamless as
possible for patients.
Applicants
should have a responsible attitude, be proactive, and demonstrate using
initiative. Excellent communication skills are essential to the success of
this role as you will be required to liaise with staff members across the
multi-disciplinary team.
This
is a full-time permanent position based at St. James Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The
postholder will be responsible for scheduling inpatient and day case theatre
sessions for 12 Colorectal Consultants, alongside their team. This will
involve liaising with the clinical team to identify appropriate patients and
contacting the patients to confirm dates, in addition to using various pieces
of software to ensure the correct information is available for the wider
team. There will be considerable phone contact with patients and clinical
staff. There is also the requirement to take part in scheduling meeting as
well as updates with management around waiting list times and targets.
