This is a pivotal role within the CSUs structure and is vital in supporting the Triumvirate team and critical care units across both sides of the city to maintain smooth and effective flow of patients whilst also problem solving the daily operational pressures that arise.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to ensure high quality patient centered care is delivered within an ever-evolving environment. The successful candidate will also support the unit matrons in planning staffing needs on a daily/weekly basis and manage our flexible workforce bookings. A significant proportion of the role will also involve strategic working with other key CSU Triumvirates and teams in helping enact, plan, and deliver safe and effective patient care/flow. This role is across St James's & Leeds General Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
As part of the role and to assist with project work and patient flow developments the successful candidate will be expected to work a mix of Long Days (0700-1930) and management days fulfilling the patient flow coordinator role. There will also be the opportunity for working clinically to maintain critical care clinical skills and to enable the successful candidate to be response to the service needs.
Their responsibilities will include leading a team ensuring their developmental needs are met through appraisal and ongoing support and development. They will be expected to lead or support the Matron in practice development and change management projects. Advanced critical care and leadership skills are essential, and candidates must be able to evidence well developed communication skills. We are looking for an individual who is compassionate, energetic and has a can do attitude as well as a genuine dedication to safe and effective care for patients who require Adult Critical Care.
Due to the variable nature of work within the CSU there may be an expectation that the successful candidate works a proportion of weekends to provide senior cover, although the primary hours are Monday-Friday.
Applicants should have current NMC registration; have extensive and substantial current experience at band 6 within critical care patient flow.
