Job summary
We are looking for highly motivated senior nurse to continue with the development of evidence based clinical practice and, through this play lead in shaping and running the Emergency Department through research and education.
Interested individuals must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be organised, hardworking, and be able to demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills with a proven track record of organizing and delivering teaching sessions. You should be educated to degree level or working towards this and hold a teaching qualification.
There is an expectation that if appointed the post holder(s) should be willing to coordinate the Emergency Department on a daily basis, recent experience of implementing change and participating in audit and/or research would be advantageous. Interested individuals must possess significant emergency care experience with 4 years ED experience being desirable and one ALS/TNCC or APLS advanced training being essential.

Main duties of the job
Lead the development of high standards of evidence based clinical practice.
Foster multi-disciplinary links to develop shared learning and skills development with other professional groups.
? Have the lead role for the development of clinical practice in the A+E environment
? Support the Accident and Emergency managers in day to day management of the unit.
? To assist the Accident and Emergency managers in the ongoing financial management of the ward.
? To assist the Accident and Emergency managers in the recruitment and selection of staff.
? To be responsible in the setting and maintaining of high standards of patient care.
? Support the development of education and training within the unit.
? Support and lead on maintaining Key Performance Indicators, including the 4 hour target, ambulance handover to time to clear time and the 15 min turna round standard

Management Aspects:-1.1 Provides direct management support to the Accident and Emergency managers, including day to day organisation of the unit, human resource aspects and non- staff elements.1.2 Takes continuing responsibility and accountability in the absence of the unit managers.1.3 Through participative management, fosters innovation and motivation within the team.1.4 To actively take a lead in risk assessment, monitoring and management.1.5 Contribute to the business planning/service development plans.1.6 Participate in annual cycle of performance appraisal and personal development plans for staff and teams.

3.1 Lead the Work Stream Links on the unit.
3.2 Carry out an annual Clinical Practice Development Analysis on the unit and develop an action plan with the Accident and Emergency managers
3.3 Assist the Accident and Emergency managers in the implementation and development of Safe care initiatives aligned with ward priorities.
3.4 Work closely with the Infection Control Team to develop audits and action plans to reduce units infection rates.
3.5 Working with the Nutritional Team to ensure optimal nutrition for patients whilst on the ward.
3.6 Carry out defined clinical requirements of the post in line with local policies and national recommendations.
3.7 Set standards of care and ensure that nursing practice is audited and research based and supports the clinical governance framework.
3.8 Provide clinical expertise and advice to other staff.
3.9 Maintain and improve professional knowledge, skills and competence to ensure the delivery of evidence based practice in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Councils Code of Professional Conduct and Trust Policies.
