Job summary
We are pleased to advertise 10-month fixed-term maternity leave opportunity for a Team Lead Physiotherapist to take a key role in the clinical delivery and leadership of the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Service.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced physiotherapist with substantial post-graduate clinical knowledge in orthopaedics and proven experience working at Band 6 level within the NHS. Applicants must demonstrate flexibility, time-management and organisational skills and evidence of consistent self-motivation.
In this role, you will carry a clinical caseload supporting both orthopaedic inpatient wards and the community service. As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will work closely with orthopaedic MDT colleagues and wider professionals to ensure a coordinated, patient-centred approach to the management of orthopaedic patients.
A significant component of the post involves operational oversight and staff supervision within the physiotherapy team. Applicants should therefore be able to demonstrate strong leadership abilities, contributing to the development and growth of this well-established service and influencing ongoing service improvement. You will also play an active role in audit, quality improvement and research activity to support evidence-based practice.
The successful applicant will be required to work a shift pattern between 08:00 and 17:00, and participate in a 7-day working rota, including weekend shifts and twilight sessions (12:00-20:00).
Main duties of the job
To take the lead role in the clinical delivery and leadership of the orthopaedic physiotherapy service.
To deliver care in both acute and community settings.
To undertake advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and/or chronic presentations with limited diagnosis/prognosis.
To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
Communication concerning conditions information regarding prognosis and management will frequently need to be undertaken where there are often barriers to communication.
To manage a clinical caseload undertaking the advanced assessment and appropriate treatment of patients with a range of orthopaedic conditions associated with frailty and old age
To work as a key member of the wider MDT, in the management of Orthopaedic patients admitted to hospital
