Job description

Job responsibilities

The departments provide undergraduate teaching to medical students from Newcastle University in both stage 3 and stage 5 as part of their Womens Health rotations. Each rotation has 6-8 students, spending either 3 weeks or 4 weeks in the department with teaching provided in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient clinics, wards, theatres and delivery suite. The post holder would be expected to take an active role in delivering and supporting this teaching. There would be a combination of small group seminar type sessions, clinical based discussions and opportunistic bedside clinical teaching. Each new cohort of students requires an introduction session, and an induction/orientation to the delivery suite, to which the post holder would contribute. The role provides an additional point of contact for the students, in what can be a daunting placement, and a bridge between what they have learned in lectures, and day-to-day clinical work.
