Job summary
The advertised post is suitable for individuals who have experience in emergency medicine and are also interested in furthering their knowledge, skills and experience in emergency medicine, whilst working in a stimulating yet supportive environment. The post is for an initial twelve month period to start as soon as possible.
Successful applicants would join the emergency department team in the Emergency Care Centre which opened in February 2015. Individualised job plans would be developed that would be both sustainable and satisfying. The successful candidates will contribute to the middle grade rota.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to assess and manage patients presenting to the emergency department with a wide spectrum of emergency presentations, including: adult, paediatric, trauma and non-trauma presentations. Service delivery will be on the middle grade rota. They will also be expected to supervise and support the more junior medical staff as required and will be involved in the resuscitation of acutely ill and injured patients. This post includes the role of Emergency Physician in Charge of the department overnight, after an appropriate induction and orientation period.
