Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Community Diagnostic Centre based within Gateshead's MetroCentre and may be the challenge that you are looking for.
If you are an experienced Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant and looking to expand your skills and knowledge into point of care testing, or if you have previous experience in patient observations/monitoring, phlebotomy skills or taking ECG readings this could be the perfect job role for you, to work as part of the CDC Monitoring Hub Team to provide holistic non-judgmental care to patients presenting for diagnostic treatment.
Part of the regional development of Community Diagnostic Centres provide a broad range of elective diagnostics, including checks, scans and tests, away for acute hospital facilities to reduce the pressure on hospitals and provide quicker access to tests and greater convenience to patients.
The CDC will serve patients from the region requiring diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Echo), sleep studied, respiratory diagnostics, Fibroscan and point of care tests.
You will need to have good communication skills, be able to work within a shift pattern that covers a 7-day service 8am-8pm and be adaptable to changes that occur within a fast past high patient turnover environment to maintain an effective service.
Main duties of the job
As an CDC Monitoring Hub Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, non-judgemental care to patients attending the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). This role is ideal for experienced HCAs looking to expand their clinical skills in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
- To independently perform a range of point-of-care diagnostic tests and support patients throughout their diagnostic journey including, but not limited to, fibroscan, phlebotomy, ambulatory BP, ambulatory ECG, 12-lead ECG.
- To work under the supervision of the CDC Clinical Support Leads and Deputy Manager.
- To work as part of the MDT within CDC pathways.
- To monitor and contribute to care delivery and escalate any concerns.
- Support individuals with diverse needs including mental health, learning disabilities, dementia, and alcohol use disorders.
- Support the CDC Clinical Support Leads & Deputy Manager and act as a role model in supervision of healthcare assistants within the CDC.
