An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of Junior Clinical Fellows to join the Medical Services Directorate at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
These posts are aimed at Doctors who would like to gain more experience in Medicine before committing to a particular career pathway.

Main duties of the job
The posts will primarily be based within the Medical Directorate and there might be opportunities to work in a variety of Medical specialities including Cardiology, Stroke Medicine, Elderly Medicine, Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Emergency Medicine.
You will be assigned a clinical supervisor and will be encouraged to keep a portfolio of your experience as well as participating in all departmental educational opportunities and attending outpatient clinics whenever possible.

- Responsible for the admission, clerking and day to day care of their patients on the General Medical wards, as assigned.
- Participate in the on-call rota.
- Participate in audits and current research projects. These are available through individual Consultants.
- Attend the active postgraduate programme with weekly lectures, radiology, medical and pathology meetings, and medical unit presentations.
- Participate in the teaching of Foundation Doctors at the bedside as well as to Medical Students.
- Attend practical procedure training.
- Involvement in Quality improvement projects.
- To maintain a good working relationship with existing staff members in the hospital.
- To perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in conjunction, where practicable, with their colleagues both senior and junior.
