Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a Pre-Operative Assessment Manager, to join our well-established Nursing Team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead working with the vision of delivering excellence in care and providing a culture of continuous learning for a highly specialised nursing team. We are looking to recruit a motivated, nurse leader who can bring enthusiasm and energy to the Senior Leadership team within our busy Pre-Assessment Department.

The successful candidate will be pivotal in the delivery of professional quality standards and the managing and implementation of and innovative change. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to dynamically support all patient groups in the lead up to their surgery, whilst also supporting and working alongside a range of other healthcare professionals to deliver high quality care. They will work collaboratively with all clinical Specialties to promote excellence in care and a high-quality patient experience. As the Pre-operative Assessment Manager, you will be expected to provide the assurance for the effective clinical leadership of the service, ensuring that the nursing teams deliver safe, high quality patient care guided by your leadership.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the patient's clinical journey along agreed patient care pathways, supported by evidence-based practice.

Responsible for the effective and efficient operational management of the Surgical Pre-assessment Department.

To provide the highest standard of safe and effective care through the effective use of evidence based practice in line with agreed local and national standards and the NMC Code.

To provide a continuously improving service.

To provide clinical leadership, expertise, advice and support to the nursing and multi -professional team to facilitate the effective delivery of care to patients at all times.

To support and continually develop staff to ensure they have the appropriate level of skill, knowledge and competence to meet service/specialty requirements.
