Applications are invited for an opportunity to work within the Surgical Business Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in an exciting role as an Assistant Service Line Manager.
Main duties of the job
This post will support the Service Line Manager in the day-to-day operations of the department, including managing outpatient and inpatient programmes as well as delivery of key performance indicators including Referral to Treatment waiting times. The role offers a great opportunity to play a key role in the smooth running of the Trust and you will work closely with the Service Line Managers, Clinical Leads, Matrons and Business Partners in managing the Financial, HR, Performance and Quality issues in the services. Reporting to the Service Line Manager, you are expected to identify and troubleshoot problems with the delivery of the service, working to solve them whilst keeping disruption to a minimum.

- The post holder will support with operational management issues within their allocated areasof the Business Unit. This will involve working with the operational triumvirates working alongside Service Line Managers, Matrons and Clinical Leads to ensure the provision of safe, high quality clinical services.
- The post holder will carry out a range of tasks including transformation and service improvement work, capacity and demand modelling, problem solving, scheduling, budgetary and staff management, and providing support to the relevant Service Line Managers, Matrons and Clinical Leads.
- Key aims of this position are to maintain and improve quality and safety in the delivery of effective patient care whilst rigorously pursuing the efficient use of available resources.
- The role will support the delivery of key performance indicators including cancer targets, RTT compliance, performance, complaints, incident management and the management of risks.
- The role will also be key in supporting the Trusts recovery plan following the response to the Covid pandemic.
- Represent the Business Unit in daily multi-disciplinary site meetings, coordinating any actions required within the business unit to streamline the flow of patients from the Emergency Department, inpatient base wards through to discharge.
- The role will be fast paced and although operationally focused there will be opportunity to contribute to working on strategic plans and priorities working with Trust corporate services and key partners.
- There is the future potential of rotation to experience other Business Units.
