Band 5 Older Person Mental Health, Inpatient.

An exciting opportunity has arisen; we are currently recruiting four Staff Nurses for both our Functional and Organic Wards Sunniside and Cragside. Both Wards are situated in the grounds of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. They share the same building.

Sunniside Ward: Provides inpatient admission, assessment, treatment and discharge planning to patients who have a diagnosis of a Functional Mental Health illness, and are over the age of 65.

Cragside Ward: is a specialist inpatient service for the assessment of people aged over 65 with Dementia.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

We are looking for caring, empathetic, enthusiastic and motivated individuals, who have a desire to improve the lives of Older People experiencing Mental Health Problems.

The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, and will be part of the assessment of care needs, risk assessment, formulation and implementation of care plans that are meaningful to our Patients.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be motivated to engage within our patient group & ward environment.

  • oDiploma/ Degree in Nursing.

Desirable

  • oExperience of complex mental health problems
