Job summary
The post holder carries out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
- Contribute to the well being of the patient, ensuring that his/her comfort, privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
- Undertake patient observations, including temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure, ensuring appropriate recording and reporting of results.
- Obtain sample from patients and undertake simple urine testing, recording and reporting the results..
- Undertake ECG,s and phlebotomy examinations.
- Provide assistance to patients in relation to preparing for examinations and assessments.
- Promote equality for all patients from abuse and maintain patient safety.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of patient care.
- Assist with the moving, handling and positioning of patients, in accordance with hospital policy.
- Be aware of fire prevention, position of fire equipment and procedures to be adopted in case of fire or other emergency.
- Ensure the effective and efficient use of all department resources.

- Assist in the preparation of, and safe disposal of equipment used in patient examinations/treatment.
- Ensure that all patient care areas are well maintained and restocked daily.
- Participate in the ordering and storage of supplies required in the Accident and emergency department.
- To attend yearly mandatory training.
