Job summary

Are you passionate about excellence in mental health care for older people? Do you want to work for a service that values you and your contribution?

We are seeking to recruit a substantive full time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team here in Gateshead. The role is currently 10PA's but 8PA's can be considered.

This is an exciting time to join the Older Peoples Mental Health Team within the community setting as we are currently undertaking service improvement to ensure we continue to provide a high standard of responsive care and treatment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within this as we seek to improve the outcomes for patients with functional and organic mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will also take over the role of Safe care Consultant Lead for the service, working collaboratively to ensure that patient safety and quality care remains at the heart of what we do.

You will enjoy close working relationships across the rest of the OPMH service including our functional and organic inpatient wards; and across the acute hospital site with the older peoples pathway.

You will be required to join the on call rota, however this only covers Gateshead older adults.

In return, we offer a compassionate and supportive team approach, incentives and opportunities for your own development within the service.

We welcome informal discussions and visits to the service.

The job description is awaiting Royal College of Psychiatrists approval
