Overseeing People Services, Leadership & OD, Education, Learning & Development and Performance and Quality you will be an experienced HR professional with the ability to oversee a thriving directorate and ensure first class customer service to our business units and corporate functions. This is a dynamic role with an immediate focus on getting the basics right, that needs energy, drive and tenacity. The role includes participation on the Strategic on call rota for the Trust. As one of 12 participants on the rota , when on call you will be the strategic point of contact for the Hospital, working with tactical and operational teams out of hours.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Director of People and OD will work closely with the Executive Director of People and OD to implement our recently agreed People Strategy and provide professional people advice to the Trust. In accordance with the national People Plan, the post holder will lead and oversee the provision of excellent, customer focused People services working in partnership with our operational colleagues to embed the Trust's people strategy at the heart of the organisation and fully realise the ambitions of the People Promise by 2024.

Working closely with the Group Executive director, the role will drive progress on our 'back to basics' plan and also support the implementation of our long term strategic vision for People and OD, supporting the delivery of our clinical service model, our integration and transformation programmes, all within the context of our financial challenges and an increasing role across 'place' in Gateshead.

This is a strategic leadership role, working within the framework of the national People plan, supported by 4 established Heads of Service, each leading a clear portfolio of work and working as a collective senior POD management team.

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

  • Professional CIPD Human Resources qualification plus significant post-qualification experience/ education to Masters level in an HR related field
  • Advanced training/development within the HR/Workforce/Leadership domain to give credibility as the HR specialist and Senior Leader
