We are delighted to be recruiting to a Head of People Planning, Performance and Quality, on an 12 month maternity cover, reporting directly to our Deputy Director of People and OD, working alongside our other three Heads of, to collectively form our People and OD Directorate Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, forward thinking individual to take a significant leadership role in the development of our people strategy, in line with the People Plan, whilst also being the a senior lead for defined areas of responsibility. As an equal team of 4, you will also deputise for the Deputy Director and sometimes Director as needed. You will work closely not just as the directorate leadership team, but also with newly created People and OD Teams, supporting business units and corporate departments to deliver a comprehensive and customer focused service to our operational colleagues and 4500 strong workforce across the trust and subsidiary companies.
Main duties of the job
As a corporate, specialist you will provide expert advice and guidance to the People and OD Teams (particularly building shared capability), senior operational colleagues and professional leads, as we continue to refresh our services across the trust. The successful candidate will set standards and drive improvements in their specialist areas and provide assurance on a range of core people functions within each area. We are seeking candidates who have the compassion, energy, enthusiasm, commitment and skills to play a key role in the delivery of the People Plan and our local strategic objectives, which prioritise supporting our staff and our vision to be great organisation with a highly engaged workforce. This is a busy demanding job, in a fast paced environment but we're a great team and we have fun along the way! We're looking for someone with significant experience in this field, current knowledge of the NHS context and People Plan and much more! Most importantly though, we're looking for a colleague who will be highly visible, compassionate leaders with a natural ability to inspire and care for our people teams, motivating them and others to find sustainable solutions. This will need resilience and a solution focus, with a fresh approach and rigour to internal challenges to help us meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.
