Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Dietitian to join our friendly and pro-active Nutrition and Dietetics Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

This permanent post offers an enthusiastic Dietitian with specialist experience working with young patients diagnosed with type 1 diabetes an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and provide a high quality dietetic service.

The successful candidate will be integrated into a supportive MDT to provide expert dietary guidance and education for paediatric patients with type 1 and less commonly, type 2 diabetes, their families and education institutions within Gateshead.

As a service we support flexible working opportunities including hybrid working or condensed hours where appropriate and able to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a highly specialist Dietetic service to children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and their families across Gateshead.
  • To manage a caseload of complex patients, within outpatient clinics and Children's Emergency Care Department and via home and school visits (as required).
  • To act as a clinical expert in paediatric dietetics within a multiagency team including specialist nurses, paediatricians and other Allied Health Professions (AHP's).
  • To practice autonomously, demonstrating clinical decision making skills, professional accountability and responsibility.
