Job summary
We are looking for an organised and motivated Medical Staffing Coordinator to join the Medical Staffing team at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
You would be part of a friendly team that is an integral function within the People & Organisational development Directorate. You will be one of four Medical Staffing Coordinators, reporting to the Medical Staffing Manager.
Previous experience of rota coordination is essential and the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels. Being able to work under pressure, plan ahead and react to the needs of the service is essential.
Main duties of the job
- Act as the first point of contact for Medical staffing issues, this includes (but is not limited to) Resolving Rota/staffing/pay issues, approving leave ensuring staffing is not impacted, managing swaps, recording sickness and arranging locum cover as required; ensuring relevant issues are discussed with the SLM and/or clinical lead.
- Produce and co-ordinate compliant medical staff rotas inline with national terms and conditions and EWTD across selected specialties.
- Produce work schedules to ensure they are released inline with the code of practice KPI's.
- Monitor the Doctors in Training exception reporting system. Send the relevant information to payroll and allocate Toil to the appropriate rota.
- Record absence and arrange cover, if required.
- Understand and interpret Trust and national guidance and policies, ensuring the designated Business Unit/Corporate Directorate are briefed upon any changes and the potential impact.
- Understand and interpret appraisal and re-validation timelines and produce the relevant reports inline with such time frames.
- Support the Job Planning Process.
- Support the roll out of the Electronic Rostering Solution across the Medical Workforce.
- Support the development of a team based culture focused on professionalism, meeting the needs of the customer and an environment which strives for continuous improvement and improved efficiency.
