Job summary

Due to the development and expansion of our services to provide a 7 day service, we wish to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals to our Radiology Admin Team.

The Radiology Department has three receptions - Main X ray, MRI and Ultrasound. Patient appointments are made and queries dealt with on the phone. There is a requirement to ensure patient notes are updated and confidentiality maintained. There will also be a need to deal with medico-legal requests in a timely manner.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional with strong interpersonal skills to further develop their experience within the NHS. The post holder will need to have excellent organisational and communication skills to ensure they can work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure Radiology continues to provide a high quality service to all its users.

A flexible and forward thinking approach is needed to ensure Radiology meets the challenges of the constantly developing healthcare environment, with a focus on 7 day working.

Main duties of the job

The Radiology Department operates a 24 hour service. You will be required to be flexible in relation to your base of work and will cover shifts Monday-Friday and also Saturdays and Sundayscovering hours 8.00am-8.00pm on a variety of shifts.

To work on multiple receptions across 2 sites. To arrive patients and make appointments on theRadiology Information system. To complete other appropriate back office duties.

Full time - core hours between 07:45 and 19:45 to support 7 day working (including bank holidays)

  • To provide a competent and efficient reception service
  • To arrange appointments (inpatient and outpatients) and utilise any cancelled appointments
  • To deal with patient's notes and ensure they are kept safely, properly updated and the confidentiality of the information contained within is maintained
  • To handle any queries or telephone enquiries in an accurate and professional manner
  • Retrieve x-ray packets from storage
  • To process all medico-legal requests in a timely manner and ensure all discs are encrypted
  • To monitor the duty task pad (ultrasound) and relay messages in a timely accurate manner
  • To ensure daily reports are actioned and reports are faxed to relevant referrer
  • To allocate images to offsite reporting service
  • Manage own workload by prioritising tasks accordingly in order to meet deadlines
  • Carry out general administration duties e.g. filing, photocopying and scanning etc
