We are delighted to be recruiting for an Assistant Allied Health Professions Practice Placement Facilitator to join our Practice Education Team. You will report directly to the Allied Health Professional Practice Placement Facilitator, Nursing Practice Placement Facilitators and Lead Nurse for Practice Education.

This exciting new role will assist in the delivery of high-quality practice placements for our student AHPs throughout the organisation. The post holder will work alongside the AHP PPF, AHP Education Leads, AHP Practice Educators and support staff in order to promote and support the education of AHP students. Applications are invited from motivated and experienced AHPs, who have excellent communication, inter-personal skills and have the ability to work autonomously across a variety of areas within hospital and community settings. They will need to demonstrate a problem-solving approach and have a keen interest in student education.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in partnership with the AHP PPF and will be responsible for ensuring the provision and maintenance of high-quality practice education across the Trust and support for AHP learners. The post holder will be required to support work with placement areas in order to explore and expand practice placement opportunities and promote the use of coaching models in order to maximize placement capacity. The post holder will assist in the pre-placement preparations, orientation and induction of new learners, promote student retention and contribute to assessing the quality of learning environment against HEE quality standards. The post holder will act as a resource and champion for practice education, providing and facilitating best practice advice and escalating practice placement concerns as required.

About us

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead. Job responsibilities

In collaboration with education providers, the post holder will assist the AHP PPF in the management of the portfolio of AHP student placements within the Trust.

The post holder will work in partnership with practice areas to promote high quality placement experiences by identifying areas of good practice, establishing areas for improvement and assisting in developing appropriate solutions or interventions to these in line with best practice guidelines.

The post holder will support in exploring and expanding practice placement opportunities as necessary across a broad range of disciplines and professional areas in order to maximize placement capacity. Promote education and engage practice areas in supporting students.

The post holder will contribute to assessing the quality of learning environments against HEE quality standards, working alongside the AHP PPF to carry out essential educational audits.

The post holder will facilitate and help with the pre-placement preparations, orientation and induction of new learners and promote compliance in health roster for effective governance and managing of student shifts.

The post holder will support AHP students using a variety of methods to promote student retention and role satisfaction which may include pastoral support and signposting.

The post holder will provide support and guidance to Practice Educators or equivalent and to students on HCPC standards, professional values and the use of student assessment documentation and portfolios.

In collaboration with the AHP PPF, the post holder will provide guidance particularly in relation to any highlighted potential problems in practice areas, providing and facilitating best practice advice for Practice Educators in decisions relating to the learner experience.

The post holder will ensure early escalation of practice placement concerns to ensure effective resolution and maintenance of high-quality placement experiences, escalating to AHP PPF and relevant senior staff as required.

The post holder will support the AHP PPF in the delivery of practice education updates and workshops and work with placement teams to promote and implement the use of coaching models to AHP practice educators and support staff.

The post holder will assist AHP Practice Education Leads in the revision and development of information and resources available to students who attend placements.

The post holder will act as an expert resource and champion for clinical staff with regard to practice education, educator training, practice placement development and innovation and dissemination of relevant information.

The post holder will support AHP PPF, wider Practice Education Team and Lead AHP to represent Trust and Practice Education Team at promotional events held within and outside Gateshead Health NHS Trust.

The post holder will assist the AHP PPF and wider Practice Education Team and Lead AHP in new developments, strategies and improvements in AHP practice education, learning and AHP preceptorship as required.

Network locally with PPFs and HEI academic and placement teams to support the sharing of best practice.
