We are looking for a dynamic candidate to join our strong progressive team in Diagnostics at the Gateshead Health Foundation Trust. Our diagnostic managers manage a variety of services and corporate aspects to ensure that our Department is high functioning and delivers high quality services for our patients.

The main purpose of the job is to ensure that Diagnostic Imaging Services are of the highest standard by lead on the development and delivery of quality and CQC standards, ensuring safe and effective patient care with a focus on learning and continuous improvement. It will require strong service and change management skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills to influence and engage others in developments.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the job is to ensure that Diagnostic Imaging Services are of the highest standard:

  • Provide strong dynamic management and leadership to the department, working in collaboration with the service line managers, radiology teams, matrons and consultants both within Imaging and across the Trust
  • Support the Service Line Manager in delivering high quality effective services within budget, identifying opportunities for cost improvement where possible
  • Lead on the development and delivery of quality and CQC standards and in ensuring safe and effective patient care with a focus on learning and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the heads of SafeCare, risk management and patient safety
  • Accountable for the monitoring and maintenance of standards and performance within diagnostic imaging.
  • In collaboration with the Service Line Manager develop a strategy for diagnostic imaging which delivers excellence in diagnostic care.
  • Responsible able for ensuring a safe, clean clinical environment.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and manage initiatives and projects effectively.
  • Management of the admin team, reporting and radiology support workers
  • Oversight and day to day management of contracts
  • Deputising for the Service Line Manager, providing cover for other senior managers in the team and any other duties as required
