Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Therapy Technical Instructor to become part of our Inpatient Stroke Team - working on the purpose built Jubilee Acute Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.
This role will involve working with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists on the ward to implement prescribed rehabilitation programmes with the aim of improving client's function and well-being and to support a safe and timely discharge from hospital.
The role may require weekend and bank holiday working. As community visits will be required you will need to have full valid UK driving license with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Main duties of the job
- To work with the therapists, in the implementation and progression of rehabilitation programmes.
- To provide a high standard of therapy assistant service to ward and community based patients.
- To facilitate patients to reach their optimum level of independence in mobility and activities of daily living on the Stroke ward.
- To contribute to delivering rehabilitation programmes during weekdays, weekends and Bank holidays.
- The post holder will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting with specified duties and to take responsibility for planning own work duties.
- Perform non-clinical duties such as clerical or housekeeping which aids the efficient running of the service
- Provide support for band 2 assistants and students.

- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver a holistic patient-centered approach to care.
- To be responsible for implementing prescribed treatment programmes with an allocated caseload, following an initial assessment by a qualified Occupational / physiotherapist.
- To work with therapists, planning and facilitating the patients progression through the treatment plan, within the protocols/plans set out by the qualified therapists.
- To take responsibility for a delegated caseload and report outcomes appropriately to the overseeing therapist and wider multi-disciplinary team.
- To undertake therapy intervention and treatment of a designated caseload following initial assessment by a qualified therapist looking at activities of daily living e.g. personal care, meal preparation etc; mobility and exercise provision seeking guidance from senior staff as appropriate.
- To gather information about the patients home environment and under the advice of a qualified therapist provide appropriate equipment to suit the patients needs.
- To be responsible for prioritising and planning of own daily caseload.
- To plan, deliver and evaluate therapy groups on the stroke ward with support from qualified therapy staff
- To document interventions accurately and promptly.
