An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to work for the Information Governance (IG) Team, as the Information Governance Officer.
This role supports the work of the IG and Information Security Manager in delivering the information governance aspects of the IG and Information Security work programme.
This post is instrumental in helping the Trust to meet both its statutory and legal obligations in relation to data protection and security compliance with the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as other regulatory frameworks in confidentiality, data protection, and information security.

Main duties of the job
- Planning, organising facilitation and delivery of the IG programme within set deadlines.
- Leading in the development, co-ordination, communication, and maintenance of a robust and efficient IG Programme.
- Ensuring Trust IG policies and tools adjust to meet amendments to any data protection and security legislation while providing an awareness of changes to ensure local processes reflect changes.
- Monitoring, advising, and assisting business units where appropriate with any data protection and security advice for incidents reported in the Trust.
- Developing and providing a robust IG awareness and training programme which covers all areas within the IG Learning Needs Assessment.
- Conducting regular IG audits within the Trust to provide feedback on practices and compliance positions and where appropriate support with improvement plans.
- Assisting and advising on data protection and security assessments such as data protection impact assessments, risk assessments, contract due diligences etc.
- Provide supervisory, support and guidance to the IG Support Officer.
