We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Dietitian to join the Nutrition and Dietetics Service, working in the field of paediatric diabetes. We will also consider band 5 applicants with the opportunity to progress to band 6 following completion of relevant competencies and training.
Main duties of the job
You will work within the Paediatric Dietetic team, to contribute to the delivery of high quality, holistic care for the paediatric population of Gateshead, providing specialist outpatient clinics, community visits as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post will predominantly cover diabetes however there will be an element of general paediatric dietetics with some support to be provided in allergy and home enteral feeding. You will be supported by 2 experienced band 7 Dietitians and a band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner within the paediatric team.
About us
The Nutrition and Dietetic Service is a fully integrated team of 14 Dietitians, 3 Dietetic Assistant Practitioners, 3 Specialist Nutrition Nurses and 3 Clerical Officers. As a department we will support your individual personal development via CPD opportunities and clinical supervision as well as enable you to make necessary changes to benefit service delivery. The department supports Dietetic students from Teesside University and Nursing students from Northumbria, you will be expected to be involved in student training within the department.
Our department is situated in a modern and spacious open-plan office, alongside nutrition nurses, speech and language therapists and a variety of other allied health professionals; staff benefitting from a personal desk/ laptop and cupboard space, access to library services, and local shops and cafes, including Subway, Costa, Amigo's and our trust restaurant 'The Hub'.
Gateshead is situated on the south bank of the river Tyne, close to Newcastle and benefits from the amenities of this vibrant city. Gateshead has many of its own attractions, such as the Sage, the Baltic Art Galleries, the Angel of the North and the Metro Centre.
