An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust as the Head of Digital Solutions and Technical Services.
The Trust continues to invest in digital technology as we strive to achieve HIMSS Level 7 which supports the Trust being an outstanding place to work and an outstanding place to be cared for. This post is key to these plans and the digital services that enable the Trust wide transformation programme to achieve this.
We are seeking to recruit a strategic leader with significant experience of managing operational digital teams, with a real focus on customer service and systems support; providing an exciting opportunity for someone who combines determination and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and across all disciplines.
The postholder will report to the Chief Digital Information Officer and deputise as required; playing a key strategic role in supporting the transformation of the current digital team operating model, ensuring that services are optimised to provide excellent customer experience.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for strategic and operational management of major digital services including systems, infrastructure, business intelligence and digital support; ensuring the maintenance and development of appropriate cyber, technical, professional, and quality standards.
The postholder will make a major contribution to the digital agenda in line with the Trust's business objectives and transformation programme. Underpinned by the digital strategy; and working collaboratively across the North East region.
Responsible for the continuous development, optimal use and delivery of healthcare applications, communication technologies, personal computing and underpinning technical infrastructure to support the effective and efficient delivery of Trust services and strategic objectives.
Responsible for developing clinical information systems, driving their use and the capture of data as the Trust moves away from paper records.
Responsible for delivering a robust cyber response and progress towards Cyber Essential Plus.
Supports the Chief Digital Information Officer to engage key clinicians, professionals, and senior leaders on the longer-term digital strategy; exploiting technologies in place and horizon scanning to inform future direction and opportunities.
Management responsibility for large and complex capital and revenue budgets.

Responsible for strategic and operational management for major areas of activity including the Systems Teams, Infrastructure, Technical Development, Business Intelligence, Desktop Support, Telephony and the IT Service Desk, ensuring the maintenance and development of appropriate technical, professional and quality standards.
The role will provide managerial leadership, support and development for the above teams, ensuring that strict business targets and expectations both internally and externally are met.
The post holder will take a lead role in the transformation of the current digital operating model ensuring that services are optimised to provide excellent customer experience. The scale of this task requires well proven leadership combined with a highly organised approach to operational delivery.
The post holder will also be expected to make a major contribution to the digital agenda in line with the Trusts business objectives and transformation programme. Underpinned by the Digital Strategy; and working collaboratively across the North East region.

Provide expert advice and guidance on cyber risk and security of the Trust, including cyber essentials accreditation.
Provide expert advice and guidance on information system development, adopting a programme management approach in the delivery of system improvement. Key to this is development of the Trusts full EPR (electronic patient record).
Support the Chief Digital Information Officer engage key clinicians, professionals and senior leaders in the longer-term digital agenda for the Trust; horizon scanning, being aware of best practice, capitalising on innovation and actively maintain a contemporary/forward thinking approach.
Management responsibility for a large and complex capital and revenue budgets.
Ensure that an effective control environment is in place that robustly assures the Trust of information security and business continuity with regards to all IT infrastructure including designing complex audits to test controls.
Working with system supplies and internal development teams ensure IT systems meet with national definitions and guidelines.
Experience and expertise in digital management and staff management to Master level or equivalent acquired over a significant period. In depth specialist knowledge of digital procedures/multiple disciplines gained a significant number of years working within a NHS environment The post holder requires in depth professional knowledge including financial management, performance management, project management, information systems and staff management which has been acquired through training and experience over a significant period.
