Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced physiotherapist willing to take on a new challenge for 12 months with Frailty Team.

This post is also open to current Band 6 post holders.

The position is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and will include work across

Emergency care unit A+E EAU SSU and SDEC .

The team work a shift pattern Monday to Friday: 07:30am - 18:00pm, you also will be expected to be on weekend rota

This secondment post starts: Sept/Oct 2021 Sept/Oct 2022.

Main duties of the job

It is essential to have significant post graduate NHS experience, including Older Persons Rehabilitation. It is essential to be a car driver and have access to a vehicle. There will be opportunity for personal and clinical development in the role. Community experience would be beneficial but not essential.

The successful candidate would work as a physiotherapist within the Frailty Team assessing and treating Older persons living with Frailty. The ability to develop and implement client centred physiotherapy and assessment to this group of patients, many of whom have severe and complex medical and physical needs, is essential.

Effective communication skills and recognition of the benefits of MDT working are essential in order to develop key relationships with patients, family, carers and all Multi-disciplinary team members involved in patient care.

Efficient time management and organisational skills are valuable in order to plan and implement high quality Physiotherapy rehabilitation programmes, in particular developing sound discharge/treatment plans in conjunction with the wider MDT. Health promotion including self-management skills is required.

  • This post is a Band 6 Physiotherapist Specialist, working within emergency care centre as part of our well established frailty team
  • The post holder will work effectively within a multi-disciplinary/agency team assessing patients who have been identified as Frail and requiring Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment.
  • To contribute to the delivery and development of the Frailty Interface through the use of effective evidence based practice in line with agreed national standards for clinical practice.
