Job summary
SWLSTG NHS Trust runs a well established CWP and MHST service having been an early implementer of both programmes from 2017. We receive very strong positive feedback from trainees about our supervision and in house training and we work hard to ensure that trainees are well supported. The training year is well structured within our Trust, starting with all our new CWP and EMHP trainees meeting together for in service training days throughout the first term to complement the university training.
Each team is led and supervised by an experienced Clinical Psychologist. Trainees are part of a wider, supportive CWP and EMHP network across the Trust so there are many opportunities for peer mentoring, as well as joint training days with other teams.
We are looking for enthusiastic, collaborative, thoughtful trainees with good schools / mental health experience to join our teams in Sutton, Merton and Wandsworth. The 8 CWP trainees will work on a term time only plus 4 weeks basis (0.93 wte) and the 8 EMHP trainees will work full time (1.0 wte).
Applicants will need to be ready to start work on Friday 17th January 2024.
All applicants also need to submit an application form to KCL for a place on the relevant course. Please apply to KCL at the same time as applying to this post on Trac to enable your application to be checked prior to interview. We strongly advise applying to both the CWP and EMHP training courses to keep options open. Instructions are attached to this advert.
Main duties of the job
CWPs and EMHPs are trained in the same models, providing guided self-help Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and parenting interventions within clusters of allocated primary and secondary schools. CWPs also have an increasing remit to work within other community settings, in addition to schools.
Upon successful qualification, trainees will move into band 5 positions with the option of working full time or term time only on a continuing basis. If you have a strong preference for being based in either Merton, Sutton or Wandsworth then please state this on your application form.
These posts are Agenda for Change Band 4 payscale (plus London weighting) and also fully funded for a one year post graduate qualification in Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing through Kings College London University.
Successful applicants will be asked to sign a learning agreement with the Trust, committing to remain employed within the Trust for a minimum of another year post qualification but the hope is that you will stay with us for longer.
