An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adolescent Resource Centre. We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Clinical Psychologist to join the department.
The Adolescent Resource Centre includes two services (Aquarius Inpatient Unit and the Adolescent Outreach Team) who offer a support for 12- to 18-year-olds experiencing a range of significant and multiple mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, psychosis, self-harm, emotional dysregulation and neuro-developmental disorders. These young people experience difficulties at a level which considerably interferes with day-to-day life and is often associated with high levels of risk.

The post holder will work within multi-disciplinary teams across both services in the Adolescent Resource Centre (Aquarius Inpatient Ward, 0.4 wte and the community-based Adolescent Outreach Team, 0.2 wte).
Main duties of the job
To work independently with work and goals agreed and reviewed through regular supervision by an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and within the overall framework of the Team policies and procedures.
To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collation and analysis of statistics, development of audit and/or service development projects, consultation and project work.
To set up databases, spreadsheets and use advanced IT skills in evaluation audit and research. Findings to be presented in service reports, under supervision.
To support psychological assessments undertaken in the service, including administrating, and interpreting psychometric measures and contributing to psychological reports.
To support with planning and co-delivering therapeutic groups with young people.
To undertake direct and indirect clinical work that is managed and goals agreed and reviewed through regular supervision by a qualified applied HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist.

Audit, Research and Service Evaluation
- To undertake data collection and measure clinical outcomes within the services, and to analyse and produce reports using this data.
- To assist in the design and implementation of audit, service development and research projects.To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists in evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
- To use computer software for databases or data-analysis e.g. especially SPSS for Windows.
Under appropriate supervision from a qualified clinical psychologist.
- To observe clinical psychological assessments and contribute to the writing of psychological reports, under clinical supervision.
- Where appropriate, to undertake psychological assessments, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.
- To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a clients/familys problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
- To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups and to run psych-educational groups (with a co-facilitator). To observe groups and contribute to the clinical notes of these sessions.
- To work with other staff to assess clients and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.
- To attend and contribute to appropriate team meetings.
Teaching, Training and Supervision
- In common with all psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
- To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.
- To undertake mandatory and statutory training, supervision and annual appraisal as required by Trust policy
Management, Recruitment and Service Development
- To assist in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as required.
- To attend meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.
Other
- To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holders professional and team/operational manager(s).
- To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and Trust policies and procedures.
- To prepare test materials and visual aids as required.
