Are you a qualified nurse RMN, RGN, RLDN, RPN, a student qualifying in 2023 or are you an experienced nurse thinking about returning to the profession? South West London and St Georges (SWLSTG) Eating Disorder Inpatient services are holding a joint nursing recruitment day for our CAMHS and adult ward!

We are passionate about nurse development and many of our band 5 staff go on to band 6 positions within the team. We offer bespoke eating disorder training including NG training and phlebotomy training. We actively encourage CPD and support nurses to advance their skills, becoming Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Practice Development Nurses and provide training opportunities in psychological therapy. Our teams are enthusiastic about Quality Improvement, we work closely with the QII team to continually improve the care we provide. The successful applicant will be involved in evidence-based treatment and service development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role

As a Registered Nurse you provide direct personal care to patients, without direct supervision, and co-ordinate the care given by colleagues.

The role includes leading the delivery of comprehensive service user assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of person-centered care in a collaborative way. The post holder will co-ordinate a first-class service that includes assessment and monitoring of physical health, maintaining service users' rights, supervising junior staff and students, working collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and maintaining a safe and therapeutic working environment and accurate records.

  1. Leading on and undertaking activities to ensure that the fundamentals of care are met - nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional and social support.
  2. Co-ordinating and evaluating collaborative patient-centered care; getting feedback and improving plans with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
  3. Providing accurate information about care in an accessible format to patients and their relatives / carers.
  4. Liaising and working positively with members of the multi- disciplinary team and partner organisations.
  5. Administering, and monitoring the side-effects of, medication; monitoring service user compliance.

About Us:

Avalon ward is 18 bedded unit for adults suffering with moderate to severe eating disorders, often at a very low weight and there is a high level of co-morbidity with conditions. Avalon ward are due to move into a brand new, co-designed ward in Dec 22.

Wisteria Ward is a 12 bedded national inpatient eating disorders unit for children and adolescents aged between 11 and 18. The service is commissioned by NHS England and managed in the SLP CAMHS Tier 4 Provider Collaborative. The ward recently moved into a newly refurbished state of the art building.

Wisteria Ward as an inpatient CAMHS eating disorders unit provides the following treatment and aims to keep admission length less than 12 weeks focusing on weight restoration, supportive psychological therapies, individualised care plans, key nurse session, medical monitoring, communication and support for parents and family interventions.

About our locations:

Tooting (Wandsworth)

This is easily accessible via the Northern Line (Tooting Bec Station) and via private transport. The Trust provides subsidised parking fares for all our substantive staff. Our main site is located immediately next to Tooting High Street where staff can easily access a range of shops, cafs and restaurants.
