Job summary

The Sutton CAMHS team is made up of Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists Family Therapists, Assistant Psychologists and administrators.

The Single Point of Access (SPA) and Getting Help Service are based within Sutton CAMHS at the Jubilee Health Centre.

Main duties of the job

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced 8a clinical / counselling psychologist with a specialist interest and expertise in attachment, early years, parenting and evidence based practice.

The role is distributed between Early Years Team and Getting Help Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) pathway.

The CBT role involves delivering interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety, social phobia, low mood and panic.

The Early years role involves working closely with health visitors and supporting with the parent-infant relationship, bonding, parenting anxieties and parenting confidence.

Job responsibilities

  • The role will provide specialist assessment, intervention, training and consultation in relation to families with children aged 0-2 years. The postholder will provide dyadic interventions, for identified families with children 0-2 years who are at risk in terms of attachment development.
  • Referrals will come via the specialist Health Visiting service.
  • Provide supervision to the Sutton Specialist Health visitor.
  • Provide consultation to infant mental health team / child development centre
  • To provide highly specialist clinical psychology / child and adolescent psychotherapy / systemic family psychotherapy services to children, young people and their families / carers across all sectors of care; providing evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment in line with NICE guidance.
  • To carry a caseload and coordinate care for those children, young people and families on the caseload;
  • To offer advice and consultation on clients psychological care. To work within Trust and professional guidelines, to a clear CAMHS job plan.
  • To support the Departmental clinical governance structure through the provision of clinical supervision in relation to specific modalities of psychotherapy and by providing clinical input to supervisees PADRs.
  • Within supervision, team meetings and other fora, to support and promote the use of measures within the CYP IAPT framework to evolve clinical practice and enhance user experience.
  • To seek opportunities to include service user perspectives in how services are delivered.
  • To utilise research skills for practice evaluation and service development, as required by the service and set out in the job plan.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oQualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist under the domain of Clinical Psychologist, or
  • oQualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist having successfully completed a training course recognised/accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or equivalent, and registered with ACP, or
  • oQualified Systemic Family Psychotherapist registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) via the College of Family Couple and Systemic Therapy.
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development.
  • oPost qualification training in the clinical supervision of trainees.

Desirable

  • oTraining as part of a CYP IAPT collaborative in a recognised evidenced based approach.
  • oFormal training in the supervision of a psychotherapeutic modality.
  • oFurther training in a recognised evidence-based psychological therapy.

Experience

Essential

  • oConsolidated experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and in-patient settings.
  • oConsolidated experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • oDemonstrate further specialist training and experience by having received a minimum of 50 hours of clinical supervision of working as a specialist psychologist or psychotherapist over a minimum of 18 months.

Desirable

  • oExperience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • oExperience of service development or of a leadership role.
