Job summary

Great opportunities exist with a vacancies arising for Recovery Support Workers in the Richmond Recovery Support Team. Successful applicants will have scope to develop as professionals in the field of Mental Health, in a relevantly small multi-disciplinary team. This Team works with adults predominately aged 18-75 who have severe and enduring mental health conditions in the Borough of Richmond.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will assist the qualified clinicians in the team working as care coordinators, psychiatrists and psychologists to:

  • Provide clearly defined recovery focused interventions, in line with patients' care plans.
  • Actively participate in the Team's meetings including Zoning, seeking to provide high-quality services strongly focused on recovery to patients
  • Positively promote and support independent living for patients in the community by maintaining extensive knowledge and links with the community resources and actively supporting patients to access them.
  • Enable patients acquire daily living skills: "living ordinary lives" (e.g. shopping and cooking).
  • Help patients gain access to resources and information about welfare benefits.
  • Help patients access physical health services and gain skills to monitor their health needs in the community on an on-going basis.
  • Help identify early signs of relapse by monitoring the patient's progress, level of functioning and mental state, updating qualified staff involved in the care of the patient.
  • Support patients develop self-management tools and coping strategies.
  • Maintain adequate records as required by existing procedures; entering appropriate details in case records.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • Education to GCSE level or equivalent (with minimum of 5 A-E qualifications which must include Maths and English)
  • Achieved NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent plus post qualifications or further study/training to diploma level or NVQ level 4 in Mental Health and/or WLMHT Assistant Practitioner Course
  • OR Equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of consistent pattern of learning from Education, training and experience.
  • Care Certificate ( to be completed within 6 months of starting the role)

Desirable

  • Ability to demonstrate competency in specific clinical skills relating to role
  • Computer qualifications or experience/skills

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of mental health services or demonstrable interest in mental health either paid or voluntary.
  • To be knowledgeable /understanding about the factors that cause/impact on mental health problems and associated interventions.
  • Experience of developing relationships with a wide variety of people and organisations .
  • Proven ability to recognise and manage risk.
  • Ability to work on own initiative without direct supervision, understanding where clinical input is needed

  • Personal experience of mental health problems and use of Mental Health Services
