We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 nurses to join our well established nursing team. You will have a role in working collaboratively with service users and families and enhancing your skills within the acute care setting.
The team includes dedicated mental health professionals compromised of mental health nurses, health care assistants, an occupational therapist and an activity coordinator as well as psychiatrists. The team has a culture of supporting new and existing staff, seeking to establish in them a solid foundation of knowledge of acute mental health treatment, as well as an understanding of what it takes to fulfil this role safely.

Main duties of the job
If you are successful in your application you will be working alongside our MDT, formulating treatment plans, as well as conducting daily risk and mental state assessments of patients with a variety of different mental health diagnoses. You will be taking the lead on admissions and discharges of patients liaising with community mental health services, families and carers, and other third parties. We are looking for a nurse who will work holistically with service users to ensure excellent patient-centred care aiming towards a safe discharge into the community.

About us
Lilacs Ward is an 18 bed mixed gender, adult inpatient mental health ward. We provide an inpatient service, including assessment and/or treatment, for people who are in the acute phase of their mental health problems. Our patients have a variety of complex needs including bipolar affective disorder, paranoid schizophrenia, psychotic episodes, depression and personality disorder. The service is open to referrals and admissions 24hours a day 365 days a year.
About the location
Currently our team is based at Tolworth Hospital in Surbiton. Tolworth is easily accessible via the Southern line from Waterloo Station to Surbiton Station or Tolworth Station. From Surbiton you will need to get the K1 or 281 Bus to Tolworth Hospital and from Tolworth station it is only a 10 minute work to Tolworth hospital.
There is a canteen/restaurant on site where food and beverages are available; it has both hot and cold food. There are cafes, restaurants and shops in the local area, providing variety of menu. Parking is available on site (subsidised fares for all substantive staff), also in the local area.

Band 5 nursing roles are only open only to staff with a nursing registration, obtained as a result of completing a qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
