Job summary

We have an exciting Band 5 staff nurse position. If you are a forward-thinking nurse looking to become an expert within a leading CAMHS inpatient eating disorder service this is an exciting opportunity to consider.

The post will enhance your skills in clinical decision making, specialist assessment of mental health and physical health needs, therapeutic engagement, crisis management, development of leadership skills as well as joint working with multiple agencies/services.

Main duties of the job

As a staff nurse you will support the CYP-IAPT principles of collaborative working and goal-based outcomes, with a strong emphasis on formulation-driven treatment and use of SMART goals. You will work collaboratively with the MDT to quickly identify the key priorities for intervention, work intensively with the young person and the whole family, manage expectations for treatment, and provide intensive liaison with community and external services to ensure smooth patient flow through the unit.

The post holder will co-ordinate a first-class service that includes assessment and monitoring of physical health, maintaining service users' rights, supervising junior staff and students, working collaboratively with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and maintaining a safe and therapeutic working environment and accurate records.

  1. Leading on and undertaking activities to ensure that the fundamentals of care are met - nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional and social support.
  2. Co-ordinating and evaluating collaborative patient-centered care; getting feedback and improving plans with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
  3. Providing accurate information about care in an accessible format to patients and their relatives / carers.
  4. Liaising and working positively with members of the multi- disciplinary team and partner organisations.
