DBT Practitioner/Qualified Mental Health Professional/Counselling/Clinical Psychologist
Band 7
We are seeking a registered Mental Health Professional to join our team as a DBT practitioner. There is earmarked funding for training for the post holder. If a core mental health professional without assessed psychotherapeutic training and/or DBT training and experience wishes to apply, they can be appointed at Band 6 whilst they do their DBT training and supervised experience (approx. 2 years).
Main duties of the job
Role specification
Opportunity to attend MDT team meetings on a Tuesday which includes clinical meeting, MBT supervision, MBT group supervision, academic meeting, complex case discussions, business meeting
Opportunity to attend the MBT-Introduction (psychoeducation) group to develop MBT and group facilitation skills, and knowledge of the pathway into treatment
Receive MBT supervision and skills teaching weekly
Observe an MBT group to develop skills of group facilitation and MBT
To join post MBT group review meetings with patients, and be involved in discussions regarding suitability for treatment, developing a knowledge and understanding of clinical indicators for and against MBT intensive treatment
To develop care-coordination skills which include Therapeutic Care Planning, Risk assessment and management with complex clinical presentation.
About us
Sutton and Merton Complex Needs Team delivers psychological treatment and a care programme approach (CPA) for people who meet criteria for Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) within Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) or Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT). This role is for a DBT Practitioner. We are a friendly, warm multi-disciplinary team who are passionate about working with people to reduce distress.
The post will be based at the Jubilee Health Centre East in Wallington. Situated near the local town centre, with good accessible links into London.
Our Trust headquarters is located within Springfield University Hospital in Tooting and we also operate in nearly 100 other locations throughout the UK. This is easily accessible via the Northern Line (Tooting Bec Station) and via private transport. The Trust provides subsidised parking fares for all our substantive staff. Our main site is located immediately next to Tooting High Street where staff can easily access a range of shops, cafs, restaurants etc.
