Occupational Therapy - Community teams CMHT/RST
Due to exciting service developments, an opportunity has arisen for a an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team which works across the London boroughs of Sutton and Merton.
The post will involve providing individual and group-based assessments and interventions to adults accessing our ADHD diagnostic and intervention care pathway. . Our service has a committed MDT who are passionate about working with neurodivergent adults and who value the benefit of occupational therapy.
We are an established service where you will be well supported by both the team and the wider Occupational Therapy supervision structure. We are open to discussions around flexible working
Main duties of the job
Provide a comprehensive, tailored therapeutic programme with a strong occupational rationale for clients diagnosed with ADHD There is an expectation that this will include individual and achievable goal setting and support with establishing community links and vocational aspirations.
Build robust and supportive relationships with service users and carers over a duration of time through either 1:1 sessions or Group work.
Develop professional relationships as a senior member of the MDT whilst retaining a sound understanding of the roles and responsibilities essential to ensure a strong occupational therapy presence in the team.
Undertake Occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload and develop occupationally focused treatment goals and plans in partnership with service users. This may include home visits and visits to community resources.
Ensure that interventions have outcome measures against which goals can be measured and reviews can be undertaken.
Ensure that safeguarding concerns are raised and recorded appropriatelyPromote and provide support to access to socially inclusive opportunities and employment access and support.

The team is based across the boroughs of Merton and Sutton and we see clients at the Jubilee Health Centre East in Wallington and the Wilson Hospital in Merton both , easily accessed by public and private transport.

- To care coordinate a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
- To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services within the Community Team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
- To offer OT intervention for the team caseload, being responsible for completing standardised assessments / manualised interventions as agreed by senior professional lead.
- To contribute to the development of the OT specific role in the service
- To regularly supervise OT students on practice placement
- To contribute to streamline working from admission to discharge in keeping with the principles in the Adult Services Recovery Care pathway.
- To promote recovery and social inclusion.
- To act as the designated Disability Champion leading the multi-disciplinary team in Disability Equality matters within the service and other areas as required.
- The post holder as part of an integrated, multi-professional team will undertake the care co-ordinator role for a defined caseload of clients with severe and enduring mental health problems.

Essential
- RMN (current NMC registration) or Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy and registration to practice in the UK via the HPCP
- Mentorship for Contemporary Practice

- Evidence of post registration Training related to the provision of relevant psychosocial intervention
Experience

- Demonstrable experience of working with people who experience serious ongoing mental health problems in a variety of settings
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary team
