We are excited to be recruiting a clinical or counselling psychologist based in Tier 4 general adolescent unit, Aquarius ward based at Springfield University Hospital working with young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team and will have regular opportunities for CPD and training.
Aquarius ward offers a service for 12- to 17-year-olds experiencing a range of significant and multiple mental health difficulties which require crisis intervention. This post will be mainly based with the Aquarius Inpatient Team with strong links with the Adolescent Outreach Team. We are able to offer this role as a full time or part time position.
Please note candidates need to be qualified clinical/counselling psychologists (or about to qualify) and registered with the Health & Care Professions Council or clearly state in their application how they are planning to achieve this registration.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an experienced Clinical / Counselling Psychologist (HCPC registered). This post is within Aquarius Ward Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient adolescent unit which is part of the Specialist Services Directorate.
At Band 8a, there will be opportunities to attend supervision skills training, and supervise doctoral clinical psychology trainees, through strong links with the University of Surrey Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) Training Scheme.
We will also consider applications from newly qualified and recently qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists eligible to occupy the post at band 7 in a preceptorship role. An applicant appointed to the band 7 preceptorship role will be supported through a preceptorship model that includes a professional and clinical development plan for continuing professional development training. A Preceptorship Clinical/Counselling Psychologist will be supported to acquire the knowledge, skills and experience that meet the person specifications for the post at band 8a after a period of 18 months. Where these conditions are met the post holder will be expected to progress to band 8a subject to successful interview.
Ideally the post holder will have experience of working within a specialist inpatient CAMHS service. We will offer in-house training, regular supervision and a thorough induction to all new staff in order to develop knowledge and skills of working with eating disorders. The post is a substantive role.
