Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist (10 PA (requests to work 8PA would be considered)
This is a post within the well-established Liaison Psychiatry team at Kingston Hospital. The Consultant Psychiatrist will work with the other Liaison Consultant to provide senior cover to the hospital wards and the Accident and Emergency Department, whilst working within and jointly clinically supervising the Liaison Team. During daytime hours, the team sees patients above 18 years in all wards and departments, including the Emergency Department and Clinical Decisions Unit.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide section 12 cover for the acute hospital between 9am and 5pm in the general hospital. This is shared with the other Consultant and the Associate Specialist in the team. The post-holder would lead on providing S.12 cover for the ED and AAU working age patient presentations, unless the consultants are providing cross- cover for each other. The Older Adults Liaison Consultant would lead on providing S.12 cover for that age group presentations in the acute hospital.
The three senior clinicians in the team provide joint teaching to medical students, junior doctors and nurses.
The Consultant will take part in the senior general adult and old age psychiatric on-call rota for Kingston, Tolworth and Queen Mary's Hospitals (1 in 20 approx. with middle grade support).
This timetable may be changed in consultation with the Clinical Director in accordance with the Job Plan and Trust Clinical Governance Procedures

Essential
- Primary Medical degree
- Full GMC registration. Included on the GMC Specialist Register (Psychotherapy) or eligible for such inclusion or Specialist Registrar within three months of completing their CCT. ?Approved Clinician Status ?Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act or eligible and willing to apply for such approval once in post.
- MRCPsych, or equivalent
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register (Psychotherapy) or eligible for such inclusion or Specialist Registrar within three months of completing their CCT
- Specialist Register or eligible for such inclusion (or a higher psychiatry trainee within six months of completing their CCT).
- -Section 12 & Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act, or willing to apply for such approval once in post.
Desirable
- -CCT in General Adult Psychiatry, or sub-specialty CCT in Liaison Psychiatry and significant experience of General Adult psychiatry at a senior level.
