Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Physiotherapist to join the Critical Care and Medical Therapy team at Homerton Healthcare. This static post is based within the ICU team and focuses on delivering specialist respiratory and rehabilitation physiotherapy to critically ill patients, alongside supporting step-down to the ward and providing advice on complex respiratory patients where required.

The role involves close multidisciplinary working, supporting early rehabilitation, ventilatory weaning and respiratory management, and safe step-down to the ward, alongside supervision of junior staff and contribution to service development. We are seeking an enthusiastic physiotherapist with strong core respiratory and acute care skills who is motivated to work within a dynamic and supportive team serving a diverse local population.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist physiotherapy for a range of ITU and HDU patients requiring assessment and rehabilitation in the inpatients setting.
  • Provide specialist physiotherapy for patients with complex respiratory conditions on the medical wards.
  • Adapt physiotherapy practice to suit needs of patient, service and location of intervention in the ITU and ward-based setting.
  • Provide clinical supervision and appraisal to junior staff, therapy assistants and students dependent on rotation.
  • Participate in the delivery of on-call and hours of hours core competency training.
  • Participate in ongoing service evaluation and development.
  • Practice in a diverse cultural and socioeconomic locality.
