Job summary

The Critical Care Support Coordinator is a key member of the Critical Care Department, working closely with Team Leaders and the Matron to ensure the environment is clean, safe, and efficient.

This role is crucial in supporting the department's daily operations, particularly in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, managing clinical equipment, and overseeing stock and consumables. The postholder will help ensure the department is well maintained and safe for both patients and staff, contributing to the overall quality of care provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment in the Critical Care Department by monitoring cleanliness, reporting repairs, and ensuring compliance with linen and infection control policies.
  • Manage stock and consumables: check and balance stock levels daily, participate in ordering, organise deliveries, and keep storage areas tidy.
  • Oversee equipment: ensure all clinical equipment is operational, clean, and stored safely. Arrange repairs for faulty equipment.
  • Conduct regular audits and safety checks on hygiene, equipment, fire safety, and COSHH compliance.
  • Support communication within the team, escalate issues as needed, and welcome relatives to the department.
  • Promote health and safety by supporting infection control, acting as a fire warden, and ensuring accurate domestic audits.
  • Participate in training and development to maintain required skills and knowledge for the role.
  • Assist with general tasks such as running urgent errands and supporting sustainability initiatives.
