Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Respiratory Physiologist to lead our Sleep and CPAP service. You will be responsible for the operational management of the service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
This senior role includes providing expert professional leadership, supporting clinical staff, and maintaining a high standard of diagnostic and therapeutic service. You will communicate regularly with the consultant lead to ensure the smooth running and ongoing development of the service.
You will play a key role in strategic planning and service development, contributing to discussions and projects that enhance care pathways and promote integrated working across the local healthcare system. Your input will help shape the future of sleep and respiratory care within the Trust and wider community.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in respiratory and sleep diagnostics, including CPAP therapy, along with strong leadership and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job
Perform standard lung function testing, unsupervised, gaining accurate and clinical valuable measurements.
Standard lung function testing including dynamic lung volumes by spirometry; static lung volumes by whole body plethysmography and nitrogen washout; transfer factor for carbon monoxide by single breath method; assessment of bronchodilator response; 6 min walk testing and capillary blood gasses.
Analysis of respiratory polygraphy; CPAP initiation, education, home monitoring and maintenance of equipment; follow-up patients on CPAP therapy, trouble-shoot problems and alter treatment if required. Participate in rota for conducting patient 'hook-ups' for nocturnal full polysomnography studies
Obtain reproducible and clinically meaningful results, acknowledging when to reject poor measurements and technical errors in order to gain the best and most accurate results.
